The Belize Women’s Seaweed Farmers Association has launched a sustainable seaweed farming project with a £100,000 grant from the UK government. The initiative aims to support Belize’s blue economy by promoting environmentally friendly seaweed cultivation, creating economic opportunities for women and coastal communities.
The project will focus on sustainable harvesting methods, training for local farmers, and market development to position Belize as a leader in high-quality, eco-friendly seaweed production. It aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and promote ocean-based livelihoods.
